Ballweg Turf & Leisure is located in Beaver Dam, WI. The city is located within the Town of Beaver Dam. It was founded in 1841 by Thomas Mackie and Joseph Goetschius. The city was named for an old beaver dam located in a stream flowing into Beaver Dam River. Our city was incorporated in the same year the Milwaukee Railroad reached the area encouraging further growth. Our town hosted a WW2 POW camp called Camp Beaver Dam in the summer of 1944. The camp held 300 German prisoners of war in a tent city encampment where Wayland Academy field house now stands. We are also the home to the Williams Free Library, the first public library in the United States to have open stacks. There have been three films shot in Beaver Dam. Public Enemies was the latest (2009) and before that, The Pit (1981) and the first to be shot in Beaver Dam was Thirteen Hours by Air (1936). We carry a lot of history in our town and we are proud to be here and to work and serve alongside the wonderful people of Beaver Dam. Come see us today and see what we have to offer in John Deere products.
